Bright futures, powered by the sun
Solar energy is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, and military service members and veterans make excellent candidates for a wide range of solar jobs. With unmatched leadership, teamwork, technical skills, and a mission-completion work ethic, the diverse aptitudes and experiences gained through military service are highly transferable and in demand across the solar workforce.
Military service provides the leadership abilities and technical skills that solar companies value highly. While some veterans begin with entry-level jobs and move up the ranks, others transition directly to advanced leadership roles within this rapidly growing industry.
About 20,000 veterans are employed in the US solar industry, making up approximately 9% of the solar workforce, compared to 6% veteran employment in the overall economy. Military representation in the solar workforce has risen almost 20% over the past five years, as solar employers in all 50 states are eager to recruit veteran talent to lead the way to a renewable energy future.
